Investors take money from their partners and they want returns. So founder’s responsibility is to increase that returns. Founders don’t have to “obey” every dictat of the investors.
@abouelatta_ali @mjwhansen I'm sure you've validated & mean well when you say "gmail's algos aren't stupid" but my experience differs I send an email to a friend in my contact list (no unsub etc words) He replies back It ends in spam I reply back Still his reply goes to spam
@ejames_c This is why I like to learn from practitioners rather than observers. But practitioners don't publish. At best it is by secondary sources (journalists and authors). It is easy to talk about org design, decision making...but while working on it, it is always hazy and messy
@ejames_c Thanks @ejames_c . All mental models are wrong, but some are useful. Benign myths fall into that bucket. Porter's framework is used world over; but when he started a company, he had to file for bankruptcy. Ashraf Ghani wrote "fixing failed states" but couldn't fix Afgan
@ejames_c How do coaches fit into the idea of believability? Jim Collins never ran a company. But he is highly knowledgeable on mgmt principles
@VishnuGKumar @FWBtweets Good luck
@heydarmen This is a great one @heydarmen All creators crave feedback. The author should have been elated. Do you have the copy of the email? It should be great memory device for you
@heydarmen Would appreciate if you could elaborate “look at things as a kid again” How did you do that? How do you keep doing that even now? Any tips for others to practice it?
@SahilBloom Do you know any companies that got these variables right (preferably for a long time)?
Thank you @rishabh_grg for prompting to have this session
@TheJackForge Thanks @TheJackForge for this exercise. Coming up first on both Google & DuckDuckGo
@taisuke_mino May be @tweetflick_app can help
@vaibhav_arora__ How can one find their purpose in life?
@WorkFlowy This is cool and seems simple in line with workflowy. Some comments: • when typing I don't want to get distracted; can I keep typing without creating and then come back and click on the link to create? • Will this be available on android too (it doesn't hv [[ tho feature works)
@rishabh_grg Com'on man. Don't tell us you are building something new; Build in public. Tell us what you are building... How else can we rag you? ;-)
I listen to lot of podcasts. Notes from all of those podcasts 👇

Let others introduce ideas to you Even though you start with scratching your itch, you may not know all use cases. Let others introduce those ideas to you.
When you mirror and summarise it lets the users keep elaborating. You might think you understand. Ask more questions to clarify. They will open up and give you more info which will clarify. (She gives few examples for this point)
Don't make judgement calls when you are interviewing your prospects / users. If you say the point you made is good, then they might try to impress you with further points rather than opening up
Validate = elevating your users to the level of teachers. Means, you are humble You don't have to agree with them to learn from them
Empathy = acknowledging what others say makes sense from their perspective - @BreneBrown Don't bring your feelings into the conversation. You'll only complicate it.
@keepkwizing @ShaneAParrish @DougConant @TKPPodcast True KK. My digital book is full of notes from the podcast 😄
@ianmiell oh...what did you move to? What are your current interests?

5 factors for a holistic life: • Well-being • Work • Family • Community • Faith
Write thank you notes. Doug gave so many examples of how it helped him build his career
Leaders focus more on delivery of performance, and lose sight of taking care of development of people
Decision making is messy. you're anguishing over every detail But talking about decision making is easy Decision making is easier if there is a framework which is known to all stakeholders
As an executive, first 200 days are crucial • In 1st 100 days establish "principle centered framework" for leading by listening a lot • In 2nd 100 days, you've got to have a plan together; build the plan collaboratively
As a leader, you live in three timezones simultaneously - the past, the present, and the future
• We had challenges yesterday • We have them today • We will have them tomorrow That is why you should deposit (emotional/financial) today so you can take out tomorrow
Do everything from a commitment to honor people (even firing)
Two things that matter in corporate world: • performance • people If you take care of people they take care of performance
Hard decisions at the top make for easy decisions at the bottom
Earnings # Roadmap for prosperity Earnings = short term Roadmap for prosperity = long term
Hard to have courage of your conviction if you don't know what your convictions are
"You can either walk inside your story, and own it, or you can stand outside your story and hustle for your worthiness every day." @BreneBrown Write your story. Otherwise you'll walk in your boss' story
@raunak246 My favourite Latin phrase: Festina Lente - Make Haste Slowly I tell my kids: slow is smooth; smooth is fast
@SejalSud When you call out an Indian politician they are emboldened. You can't drive darkness with darkness. You can only drive darkness with light.
@SejalSud No one cares how much you know until they first know how much you care about them.
