Success is social: all the ingredients of success that we customarily think of as individual — talent, intelligence, education, effort, and luck—are intertwined with networks

If you are an introvert, become a “situational extrovert” - be a loner, reserved ardound strangers, but very outgoing in the right context. Helped to get my perspective right. I'm an introvert; realised don't have to be one all the time.

Networking is about nurturing mutually beneficial relationships nurture - nurture as a plant mutually - both sides benefit beneficial - not one dimensional; not only about $$$ relation - not a transaction, but a relation Invest in their success as they invest in yours

@lcrothlisberger You can mix Taleb’s barbell strategy into this. Be super conservative and have one steady customer. Balance it with many risky bets which could give you great upside but very little downside.

@jasonleowsg @dvassallo @levelsio hmm...that would mean data collection, storing all what I say, and analysing...not sure many would subscribe to that model. It won't be an informal chatter. I agree discovery is a problem for engagement. Would be interesting to see how CH solves it

@jasonleowsg @dvassallo @levelsio Is't "finding quality content" a global issue and contextual too (you may not agree with what I find as quality; also as you grow through different stages of life your definitio of quality differs)

I designed all the slides using @sketch. I prefer sketch, because I know it well by now and I'm productive in it. Also it works offline unlike Figma. In India, even in cities with high bandwidth plans, going offline is a normal routine.

I took the session via @zoom_us. By now, everyone knows about Zoom. I live stream to @youtube. I wish there was an easy way to schedule the live streaming from Zoom.

Surprisingly, most of the registrations came via @WhatsApp. I posted on Whatsapp Groups (just 3 groups) and on Whatsapp status. If find conversion ratio of whatsapp higher than other channels. May be because they have my number (so the trust levels are higher)

I promoted the event primarily on @LinkedIn, because that is where most of my audiences are. Or that is what I thought. Just posting an update on LI didn't help, as its algorithms are designed for you; it is designed for LinkedIn. I had to message folks individually.

Used @LumaHQ to create events. It's easy to create awesome looking event pages. In 5 min, I was able to create a pg connected to zoom. I used luma for emails and reminders. It has an option to create a profile page with all relevant links. Mine:

@navilan I am starting to read “thinking spatially”. Even mathematicians and physicists get their ideas when they play with concrete objects (post it notes, 3D objects) rather than only with abstract ideas. Book recommendation from @fortelabs first book

Amazon's shareholder letters are treasure trove of information and education. He truly has been building Amazon in public.

In 2014, he talks about Amazon flywheel. Great Prices -> Selection -> Customer Experiences -> More Sellers -> More Selection -> Cheaper Prices -> ... and the virtous flywheel has been spinning since then.

@MariusCern If you like pg, you’ll like @sivers. Check out his blog entries. My digital notebook is full of his notes. Also checkout Amazon shareholder letters. Another awesome and practical resources. If you can understand these folks and implement their ideas you don’t need books. 😂

@navilan @dvassallo It depends on who you are and the stage you are in. If you are starting, you have nothing to lose. If you are a celebrity (serial entrepreneur, have few #buildinpublic success, then it will become hard to experiment in public.

@tipheret @benedictevans @joinClubhouse I'm from India and most discussions are happening while I sleep. But "only live" & "no video" are features not bug. - no video = participants can jump in however they are, wherever they are, not bothered how they look - no recording = I can be free to say as in conversation

@navilan Good luck @navilan. We need to kindle the interest in math. Most kids get scared. If you can use everyday life to teach math it would be awesome.

Physical: sleep. Most days I sleep for 8 hours. Some days less. As I age, my sleep is disturbed once or twice in the 8 hours. But mostly I sleep well. I try to have an active life : walking, home workout, and cycling.

Mental: Refresh retreats. I take RRs at least twice a year. No agendas, no serious plans, lot of fun with family. Mostly for me mental recovery involves activities with family - cycling, eating out, story telling

Mental: Read fiction short stories, in a unstructured fashion. I might take a week to read a story. Some days I might read in an hour. Recently I read “Thick as thieves” by @RuskinBondIndia

Besides the core skills I talked about so far, you need two skills to stand apart from the technology crowd. These two skills cut through all the layers. They are structured thinking and structured communication.

In biz world, who interprets get paid well. If you, a software developer, need a business analyst to translate what the business owners say, the business analyst will get paid well, not you. Try to understand at least one business vertical, like retail, e-commerce, or healthcare
