@gaurav_asr Thanks Gaurav for tagging me. Yes these are really nice lessons as a father. Thanks @pulkitra for writing them.
@jalajboy Original defn of secularism: state equidistant from all religions Indian defn of secularism: equal engagement of all religions (which of course gets complicated in practice)
@arvidkahl Jeff Bezos wrote how he is building Amazon and AWS in his annual letters. He laid out vision, product strategy etc there. Blogged here:
@Abhishek_Rai I'm ok if they are formatted for emails and edited tightly. They are just a long, unending word-stream. Gone back to RSS reading; subscribe to newsletters that are different and deliver only emails
I'd rather be lucky than smart with @EmmySobieski . Learnt lot of things in our 45 min conversation.
This is just a teaser. You should listen to the entire episode. It would be best 45 min of the day. Listen here:
Have you ever seen cats? They see a string. And they start pulling on the string. Then the whole sweater is unraveling. That’s the way to learn. Start pulling strings that interest you.
Whenever you ask a question, try to ask it with the word, “what” at the front of it, instead of “why”
The listening skills give you connection to people with power and give you influence
if you want to do something interesting and big and different, and you want to change something, you don’t want to be living your life, objective focused, minimizing errors
Most of AI is about heading towards an objective, trying to minimize errors towards that objective. But as @kenneth0stanley explains, keep an open-mind and try novel (interesting, new) things.
I'd far rather be lucky than smart I am going to put this on a loop ;-)
The beginner’s mind leads you to one core thing. But it’s the years of experience that help you define what that core thing is
Offset all of the emotion that’s happening in markets and in business by sticking to simple concepts
We learn peer pressure initially from our parents and then from school. Don’t let peer pressure, guilt, and shame weigh on you and drain your energy
@cedricrodrigz @kenneth0stanley Thanks Cedric for publishing this. Have you put this to use? How do we practice this especially at a corporate level?
@MikeIsaac @jackerhack Zuck is only following what politicians (like Trump & Modi) have been doing - bypass mainstream media and allow interview with sites friendly to them. In any case, mainstream media will pick up the news and propagate. Huge win for them. Hyperlinks subvert authority.
@tim_abell Just added this to my reading list Tim. Thanks. What other insights you got out of this book?
@AdHominum How do you apply this? How can I apply this?
@vladciurca @mikekarnj Mine @ritikasingh75, @haritmohan, & a personal friend (not on twitter). I talk to them once a month at least. If I'm launching something I talk to them more. BTW: not a SAAS biz; indie coaching biz
@rezzz In his book, @kenblanchard says, we usually swing between pride and fear. Instead we should balance between humility and confidence. I find that balance hard, but when I do, amazing things happen.
@SejalSud 1001 albums you must hear. It is (one of the playlist) on loop when I have to focus and work
@stevesi @hunterwalk Isn't smartphone itself a "superapp". It replaced so many individual devices we used to carry. Any comments on that? @amitranjan
@iRadhikaGupta Avoiding stupidity is easier with simplicity.
He repeated two words often in the 40 min conversation - logic and luck. It is intriguing how he is able to merge these two. Who are the leaders he looks up to? Don't google for leaders. Look around you. There are inspiring people around you and learn from them.
@jalajboy After watching the plight of S. Khan and family, can you blame them? We brought this upon ourselves.
@IAmElijas @GravitasWins May be I can discuss that with you when you come on the show 😀 Seriously, would you mind being a guest on my podcast?
@gokulr If you are interested she shares it here:
@gokulr Don’t know if you have read “Pyramid Principle” by B. Minto. She explains this in detail there for different types of documents.
@IAmElijas I do that every week for @GravitasWins podcast. I spoke to • @anujmagazine abt sketchnoting process • @EmmySobieski abt what she learned working for 4 billionaires • @shikhilsharma abt starting and scaling a security startup It is all here:
@raunak246 @SejalSud @Paytm @zomato Without revenue company will not survive. Check their investment vs revenue. It is just a hope some idiot will come and buy the stock for more and I won't be an idiot holding left overs. Unless they turn around to revenue making, it is not a good stock.
@DanAlessandro3 @ejames_c I can understand abt Gladwell as he is not a practitioner. But I am surprised you would club Housel with Gladwell. Would you please share what “horribly fallacious arguments” in his book?
@ShivamShankarS So they are pissing off Russia, US, and scared of China. Is that where it is going?
@RobbieCrab As a podcast host, does summarising ok for the listeners? I have not seen much of summarising in talk shows. Is that how they are structured?
@adadithya @SejalSud @delhivery Have you read “How I almost blew it” by @sidharthrao? He has covered this and other Indian startups. Great book for all Indian startup founders. My notes: Review in @thetribunechd :
@arvidkahl @robwalling @yongfook MRRs & ARRs are success stories, not war stories. We relate to sweats and bruises. When we share the wrong decisions we made and potholes we fell into, others can learn from it. Even mgmt consultants share war stories, not success stories.
@navilan Please continue to share your experience with Github Codespaces. I am also considering switching to web-apps completely. Network issues are the only reason I am still sticking with desktop apps. Sometimes @airtelindia network goes off for more than 40 hours in my area.
@adityasharamkar Would you mind leaving a comment on the video with what resonated with you? I think that will encourage him too.
@adityasharamkar Thank you for subscribing to my youtube channel too Aditya. If audio is your thing, you can listen to the podcast in all of the podcast platforms too. More details here:
@krecicki @arvidkahl I've faced this problem as I built @GravitasWins coaching. Initially I shared only on Twitter. Didn't find any traction. Thought there is no need for the program. Then started sharing in LinkedIn and got enough members for 9 cohorts & a community. Guess platform matters too
@Saadeghi Great work Pouya
@Saadeghi @nileshtrivedi @tachyons_css Interesting. May be will check it out. How about customizations and others? Doc addressed primarily tailwind
@nileshtrivedi Have you come across @tachyons_css? I find it easy to use and quick too. I use it for all my personal web design (I'm not designer)
We talk about: - how he got award from Indian PM & French president - why you shouldn't imitate leaders in your domain (but what to do instead) - why security is more important for small business than big companies like Microsoft Please share what resonated with you
@123sarang There is a saying in my mother tongue which my BIL repeats often: If you see faults, there is no family குற்றம் பார்க்கில் சுற்றம் இல்லை
@123sarang Have you watched this Sarang? My richness is life forever. Bob M inspired me not just by his songs.
@keepkwizing You should rest and refresh every Sunday. You are so lucky to have a beach nearby
@AndyNarracott @Bazzaruto This is what both Jack Ma & @sivers propose: When you’re earlier in your career, best strategy is you just say yes to everything. You just never know what are the lottery tickets. Talked more here:
@123sarang really long (for me 10 years). there are some milestones, but it does take long
