@AbhayVenkatesh1 Not using signal. Is Signal important part of this program?
With hey service and many other services blocking all forms of tracking, not sure of the open rates and many other newsletter metrics. Only replies matter I suppose.
@_zenman Thanks Manish. The more I read abt benefits of fact to face interactions, I am realising the need for folks to understand where virtual communication/ communities fit and where physical ones fit.
@_zenman I don’t agree that first mover is the winner. Google itself was not the first search engine. We take one anecdote and then make a generalised principle around it.
@CodingCommando Superb. Thanks for sharing. Going to read (a quick one just to get understanding)
@SathyaHQ You don't like Thayir Satham? Oh my god. How can you be a Tamilian? I'm re-evaluating our friendship Sathya 🤣
@TNGeography Probably as Swift is improving US economy, such events in India will contribute positively to our economy too. Our leaders should seriously consider (and probably sponsor too) such events.
@netshrink @jackerhack The way it goes, I am afraid, Swamy might be right in another count - The golden period is now. Not in the future 😳
@CodingCommando Thank you
@Saipujariprasad @malpani There is a saying in Tamil - நாயைக் கண்டா கல்லைக் காணோம் கல்லைக் கண்டா நாயைக் காணோம் If you see as a dog you won’t see the dog. If you see as a dog you won’t see the stone. If I see a fellow human as a human I won’t see the labels (Hindu, Tamilian..) & vice verse
@kind_inkind @stevesi We have been going back and forth on such route. Unfortunately now we have gone back multiple steps. Instead opening the market we are restricting.
@rdkriplani Thanks Rohit. Mind sharing the brand of the windows hardware?
@munishjauhar @nasscom Congrats Munish
@rdkriplani Interesting choice for TV. Never thot that option. Did you get the Mac mini or windows version? If windows which one?
@NiharikaSodhi Telephones are better than megaphones.
@Veissali @Schandillia @AunindyoC Isn’t it too much to expect? Because by then this iron fist would’ve gotten stronger and if their CEOs open their mouth they will face consequences.
@_zenman As Jeff Bezos says in "day 1 culture", if it is one-way door, thinking > doing; if not, doing > thinking If thinking is a ways of delaying then that is a different point altogether
@_zenman In general, doing > thinking; esp if you are starting a new domain or you are young. You gain by doing more. And doing itself will shape your thinking. As you gain more experience and attempt riskier ventures, thinking > doing
@ProgressiveCod2 Thank you Saurabh. Yes it depends on the personality. For me as a CTO, Apple way works best since I have to operate at every layer - talk to devs, review designs, govern new tech, talk to customers ... But until I reached CTO post, I operated like AWS.
Mimicking is the easiest way to start on the path to success. Follow me @jjude as I talk about career growth, building gravitas, and gaining unfair advantages. Share your feedback / comments / resources with me. Like/Retweet the first tweet below if you can:
You can watch a live session where I talked about this: 6/7
Or you can listen to the podcast & read more about it here: 7/7
Or you can be like Amazon. Take one component of a layer. Optimize it so much with tools and scripts, so that you can deliver your work faster. When delivery is fast, you’ll get opportunities to work on multiple projects which in turn will deepen your expertise. 5/7
So when a healthcare customer talks to you, you can understand their needs, design a system to meet those needs, and can develop that system as well. When you can go up and down the layers, you can control the customer experience and charge a premium much like Apple. 4/7
@ayushtweetshere I am using card from DCB for these. Don’t think I have used them for recurring subscriptions. But I use them for all $ purchases
@ShubrankMukhiya Tried investing in startups; issue is 90% startups fail for one reason or another. Getting access to good startups at an early stage is difficult. So stopped it. Not rejected the idea. If good ones come along might invest.
@ShubrankMukhiya define "generation wealth"; I started investing only ₹1000 a month (could afford only that). Over a period, net worth is decent (with 120% absolute returns) with enough dividends to cover annual expenses. I could retire. But partially retired - work only 3 days a week
@ShubrankMukhiya Tried biz owner. Not for me. Skipped and jumped to investor (via share mkt). Earn & Invest. Easier in india when taking all the compliances into act. Those who have strong heart can run biz. 😀
@MollySOShea @WilsonKyi @loganbartlett Do you publish anywhere regularly? I take notes both by listening & from transcripts.
It is not always media sets narrative. Nowadays society sets the media narrative. TV media works differently - they are driven by TRPs
If you don’t have empathy you can’t be a good journalist. Whenever journalist have to report a sad news it affects their sleep and life too. Whenever a negative report gets published, high possibility they will get frivolous police complaints.
60-70% revenue for media is still coming from govt. Then how can media print against govt?
Print media still has much credibility than TV, blogs, social media. (Maybe because of the delay and print reporters can analyse and print)
Today’s media is a reflection of society. We don’t mind buying a adidas shoes at high cost. But how many of us pay for news? Even those who pay, they pay only ₹5.
Why Manipur was not reported in mainstream media until videos went viral? MMM doesn’t have foot reporters in north-east. In about 2 hours media was able to contact the relevant people and report.
@mummacity Thank you for the clarification. Then is there something called Christian philosophy combining both? Christian way of looking into money, sports etc?
@mummacity @MikeJCzapla @johncardillo How do you differentiate philosophy & theology?
How to identify secrets? That will be the next thread. Follow me @jjude and explore this topic along with me. Share your feedback / comments / resources with me. Like/Retweet the first tweet below if you can:
Only an expert can identify value in isolated, disconnected anecdotes (while they are still secrets) before they become data points and lose all their value. These secrets give you unfair advantage in life and career. 15/15
A unique eye is usually a byproduct of expertise. You are able to spot problems and opportunities before anyone else can identify them, As @nileshtrivedi tweeted 14/15
Even if you are an expert in a field, when you write a book (or a deep essay), you've to research wide and deep which often reveals hidden secrets. 13/15
Revelation happens when you synthesize public information in new ways, either because of obsessive research or a unique eye. DP researched obsessively about Peter Thiel to write 12/15
Access leads to exclusive information. That exclusive information is valuable. There's so much info online (for free or for money), but some info is only available to elites. They may not want it to be hidden but nobody has taken time to reveal these secrets. 11/15
David Perell says, Earned secrets come in two flavors: access and revelation. Access helps you find ideas that other people couldn’t have discovered, while revelation opens your eyes to the secrets hidden in plain sight. 10/15
In this post, @david_perell talks about one such secret that can give you unfair advantage: Earned secrets The world is filled with secrets waiting to be found. Earned secrets can only be acquired via circumstance or hard work. 9/15
Most of these two types of secrets are beyond the reach of commoners like us. But we can catch many of 3rd type of secrets: hidden but can be found They can give you unfair advantages 8/15
Secrets types # 2: Known only to few. They might eventually be known to others. But for a while (that while might an hour, day, week, or even decade). Ex: results of Oscar. Only two PwC accountants know until they are all announced. 7/15
