@monikahalan @lukeburgis Why structured communication & How to go about learning it? 👇
@monikahalan @lukeburgis Structured communication Why? Prof. Feynman said it well 👇
@monikahalan @lukeburgis Example of structure for investing: 4M structure • Meaning • Management • Moat • Margin of safety I posted details here:
@monikahalan @lukeburgis Example of structure for learning: • Consume • Produce • Engage You can read about this here:
@monikahalan @lukeburgis If you learn to think with structures, you can create (Or at least search) structures for everything important in life • learning • Investing • Fit body And so on
@monikahalan @lukeburgis Structured thinking Why? Life is chaotic. You’ve to decide with minimal & conflicting data. Opportunities pass by quickly. With structured thinking you can move quickly.
@monikahalan @lukeburgis Big ideas in "Math" (only that matter) • How to collect data • How to analyse data • How to extrapolate from data on hand • Decision making by data
@monikahalan Big ideas in "Anthropology" • how we behave in groups (almost always foolish in someway) • Mimetic behaviour & its implication @lukeburgis "Wanting" is a great book to understand mimetic behaviour and how to minimise its effect on us (we can't escape it)
Big ideas in "Personal finance" • Make money • Grow money • Protect money @monikahalan 's "Let's talk money" is a great book on personal finance. It is written in easy to understand language that anyone can understand without losing the essence of the subject.
Big ideas in "Spiritual" • Pursuing goals larger than here & now • Loving oneself • Loving others As a Christian I derive these from the Bible. You can read any spiritual book. If you are atheist, try Religion for Atheists :
Your diciplines will differ. Here are the fields, I have tried: • Spiritual • Personal finance • Math • Anthropology
What is multi-disciplinary learning? Knowing "big" ideas from different disciplines. Why it is needed? Almost all breakthrough innovation comes because of cross-domain knowledge & application. Example: Henry Ford brought assembly line to automotives from slaughterhouses
@SejalSud Correlation # causation In one study bra size in Bangladesh was found to indicate murder rate in the US. If you press enough stats will confess to anything and there are enough jobless economists to find a theory for it. I hope you don’t wade into that territory.
@balahla Gray market seller on Amazon? Interesting. Is that possible?
@preparetoboard @YoungAmerica12 @JoshuaLisec I have learned to be “approximately correct” and it has served me well in most areas of life.
@JulieJa53488570 @JoshuaLisec I am homeschooling my two boys. Curriculum: • Wealth • Insights • Network • Self-control Hope with this they will have WINS in life. I wrote abt it here:
@gurjota Higher chance of Pharma & biotech - since there could be focus on India for these industries Niche IT (like Sonata) will grow in services. Otherwise all generic IT companies will take a beating unless they move into higher end consulting & services.
@sachdevasampark That depends on how you define India. Cholas conquered Sri Lanka and went up to Indonesia. Plus there were wars in between kings, because there was no India as we know now. India never invaded for 1000s of years is a myth.
@prla @readwise @gregorywitek what all you store in readwise? I'm assuming kindle highlights and twitter threads? What else?
@velumania @AkasaAir Why competition is good for consumers. Consolidation is good for corporate, not for consumers
@madversity @MyAccountLak This was done in the case of Sathyam. But then govt had at least some sense of duty towards the people, not just for the corporates.
@amitranjan What is your opinion on growth vs "enough"? I have been thinking about this conundrum both from personal front and small, family owned businesses. I don't have an answer.
@ShivamShankarS You are right. We need more Indian models (not just role models but how Indian context changes a lot of these factors). Good luck. Will you share here on Twitter too? At least a link to post?
@asolepascual oh that is a lot. I track not more than 150 - 200 at any time. Curious to know what those 1.2k feeds are. 🤔
@asolepascual Hi Albert: I haven't tracked it; but generally it seems fast.
@sachdevasampark Wouldn’t it also depend on the type of product & time to deliver?
@Kjellvdv @alicellemee It is really easy. Here are some that I created using @excalidraw • • • •
@feedly @mikebutcher @marshallk I can use feedly as a central hub of feeds & read using @ReadKit on Mac & Reeder on iPhone.
Peter says he would like to instill these three qualities in his kids: • Finding their passion • Asking questions • Persevering in hardships That sums up what we all should learn. #homeschooling
• we live in a negative advancement society than positive (easy to get canceled; called anti-national) • degrees of concentration = lack of competition = higher price for consumers
@sanjaynagral @Mundra08 @WSDIndia @strayingaround @AparnaKarthi 1. I'm not an expert. Asked to learn, not to debase 2. Point is only abt rabid and violent stray dogs. have seen accidents because of them; diff to go for morning walks coz of them 3. By that logic tobacco & sugar shd be ok because medical care is available
@sanjaynagral @Mundra08 Wouldn’t eliminating stray dogs at least reduce the chance of dog bites?
@prla These are some of the awesome female creators I know. Check their feeds. They are not typical "content" creators though. @ranjithajeurkar non-violent communication @roshnibaronia sales coaching @SejalSud personal finance @ritikasingh75 startups & winning via content
@safalniveshak Life is a puzzle, conversation between @ajjacobs & @EconTalker : • Don’t get furious; get curious • Like Suduko, life can be described in 3 symbols: ? → ! • Embrace the forward arrow (→) • There are strategies to solves puzzles & life's qstns
@danishsketch @Sajjan95 As I read the book, I am researching more on Indian Pharma & biotechnology companies. If you are a stock market investor good time to focus on them.
@malpani True. Is this Mumbai?
@adhicutting @beastoftraal Did you read my mind 😜?
What @KieranSetiya says atelic & telic is what @timkellernyc calls utility & beauty Utility: listening to Mozart as a student to score marks (telic) Beauty: listening to Mozart appreciating music (atelic)
@maheshperi Thanks for writing this Mahesh. I have heard this from many small companies. Hope bodies like @nasscom take this up and stop this non-sense.
@madversity @INCIndia Surely they should improve their messaging. Today saw this from @ShashiTharoor - “walking for” 😱 Is it walking with or for?
@NehaKPuri_ For me 👇 factors make a job ideal. These are the factors I look for. So any company that provides these, I would happily join and continue to stay. Luckily I get all these from @netsolutions
@4anno @EconTalker The qstn to ask is: Do politicians shape people’s opinion or do they play to their gallery?
People change in degrees - @davidmcraney Reminds me of “12 angry men” movie
• facts don’t change minds • a well narrated movie might change mind better than facts • most often in an argument folks come out with more answers confirming their position than otherwise
Haven’t read @davidmcraney book “How minds change” but he makes important points in his conversation with @EconTalker
@KyaFarq @peegeekay True @KyaFarq Piqued interest with the first tweet. Kept the internet flowing until mid point. Then turned into most of Tamil movies. A dull end making you disappointed for spending time 😜
@sgeoffroy30 @willmacaskill @EconTalker Companies have luxury of choosing their target markets. Even at the peek, they can exclude 90% of general populace and it would be ok. Govts don’t have that luxury. They need to cater to all sections - rich, vulnerable etc. That’s the magnitude of challenge in public policy.
@Paperclip_In There is a v/o by Jobs too. Though it came out well, Jobs thought it was a terrible idea for him to voice the commercial because people would think he was an egomaniac.
